2010 CLEAN UP DAY

Join County Commissioner Tim Burns in helping keep Clawson and Troy clean and attractive places to live and work by volunteering for his annual community clean up day on Saturday, April 24.  Volunteers pick up litter from along the cities’ gateway roadways and its public spaces to help promote positive curb appeal and protect property values from 10 am to Noon.   A free volunteer appreciation picnic follows the event at Raintree Park in Troy.

Advance registration is required to participate by calling 248-858-1092.  Volunteers must be able to provide their own transportation or be willing to car pool with others to get to their assigned clean up locations.  Volunteers under 15 years old of age must be accompanied by an adult.  Please designate if you wish to volunteer in Clawson or Troy when calling.  The event will be held rain or shine.

Volunteers should sign in at Hunter Community Center in Clawson [509 Fisher Court] or Raintree Park Picnic Shelter [John R between Big Beaver & Wattles] at 9:30 am the day of the event to receive assignments and supplies.  Volunteers must be able to walk at least one mile without assistance and have the flexibility to bend over to pick up items along the roadway.  People are encouraged to bring their own gardening/work gloves for the event, but latex gloves will be provided to those who do not bring their own.

All filled garbage bags must be placed on Oakland County Road Commission right-of-ways for pick up following the event; these areas will be designated to volunteers during the event sign-in.

The appreciation picnic should begin around 12:30 pm.

Aaron Bailey for State Senate—http://www.voteaaronbailey.com

Tuesday, April 27, Meeting for Aaron Bailey for State Senate, organized by Justin Johnson

Pursuant to our last Organizational Meeting for Aaron Bailey for State Senate, I am forwarding you all an invite to our follow up to the first Campaign Planning meeting.  We appreciate all those who were able to make it out and share their input as to how Aaron and all other Democrats from the 13th Senate district can effectively execute a plan that will make the district Democratic this fall.  We feel like we've written a comprehensive plan that is now ready for validation and implementation.  I am looking forward to talking with all of our community activists, our local leaders and 3rd party allies from the district.  I think this will be critical to unifying ourselves and becoming a well oiled political machine to ensure we can unseat Republican Senator John Pappageorge.

Please save the date for this meeting in your calendar for April 27 at 7:00 pm at the home of Cathy Fucinari; 3754 Edenderry Troy, MI 48083.  Please plan to attend and share your input, thoughts, criticism, and validation of the plan that will make Democrats successful in 2010.  If you are able to attend please contact me either by email jjohnson@senatedems.org or by phone (517) 575-5240.

WHO AARON IS:

Aaron represents a huge, immediate chance to take back the 13 Senate district, and kick out Pappageorge.  The communities of Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield, Bloomfield Hills, Clawson, Madison Heights, Royal Oak, and Troy should be represented by a bold, smart young leader like Bailey, not a reactionary, as the Obama election showed us.  It's high time we take our corner of Oakland back!

For more info on Aaron, his career (including as an Afghanistan vet and a business consultant) and his vision (heavily focused on good government and clean energy), go to:

www.VoteAaronBailey.com.

We need to REINVEST in our communities - now is the time to build them up, not tear them down!  The current economic crisis DEMANDS that we pull together.  Aaron will lead on that, and we will communicate that message through this campaign.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

We're starting this movement with things you can do IMMEDIATELY:

1) VOLUNTEER KICKOFF TUESDAY MAY 4th:

On Tuesday, May 4th at 7 p.m. at the Troy Public Library, we will be having our Volunteer Kickoff!!  We want to PACK the room.  Please help us by putting volunteers in contact with me who want to make an immediate difference for Democrats.  We will then call strong Dems from all over the district, and create a fresh batch of volunteers that we can all work with in the future!

2) SUPERB INTERNSHIPS THIS SUMMER:

We'll be hiring on FIVE interns - they don't need to be students - for an extra-hands-on internship coordinating one of the five campaign regions in the 13th.  The interns will receive stellar training and will be working directly with me, Josh Hyman.  They will be able to see a campaign work from the inside and will be prepared to run their own campaign work at the end of the program!  PLEASE DISSEMINATE THIS WIDELY IN YOUR DISTRICT - we will be filling these positions by mid-May!
