PUBLIC COMMENT AT UPCOMING CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS There was a good showing of people who support the Millage January 25 and February 1. Please take the opportunity to have your voice heard before the February 23 election. Speak during Public Comment at next City Council meeting on:
Monday February 15.
Meetings start at 7: 30 p.m. and Public Comment will be near the beginning of the Agenda. Participants who wish to speak are encouraged to arrive no later than 7:15pm. Sign in at the computer to speak as you enter the auditorium(Cindy Stewart is usually there to assist). Comments are limited to 3-5 minutes depending on the number of people commenting. Check with Cindy Stewart to determine what the time limit is for that meeting. This is a free, effective way to connect with the City Council and the audience, both in the room and at home watching on cable. Keep it simple. Tell your stories to counteract the “no people”
Say what is important to you about Keeping Troy Safe and Vote YES on your ballot for the February 23 election.

The Troy Leadership Coalition in sponsoring this meeting and TDC is supporting this event in lieu of our regular meeting originally scheduled for February 17. There are so many events leading up to the election on February 23rd, the Board felt this was a good way to collaborate with TLC without consuming another one of your evenings. Please join us for information, fellowship, and refreshments to learn what else we can do to bring success for the February 23 Millage Election! TIM BURNS BIRTHDAY PARTY WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10 Mayor Louise Schilling & Mayor Penny Luebs invite you to the 3rd Annual Birthday Fundraiser honoring Tim Burns, Wednesday, February 10th, 6 p.m. The event will be held at Tavern on the Main, 235 South Main Street, Clawson 48017. KEEP TROY SAFE – VOTE YES YARD SIGNS If you would like a sign(s) delivered to your house, please e-mail Ed Spillers at edspillers@gmail.com and we will have the sign(s) dropped off at your house. The inventory is low, but we will continue distributing until they run out.
SUBMIT LETTERS TO THE EDITOR & RESPONSE TO LETTERS - February If you get a letter published, please let us know ASAP so we can add comments on line to support you! Each of the newspapers has their own protocol for official letters to the editor. Please check with the individual paper before submitting. They generally expect name and address to be included & want the letters limited to 150-300 words (varies with each paper).
Oakland Press & the Royal Oak Tribune have an anonymous on line comment process for response to both letters to the Editor and comments(Blogs). The Blogs have been heavily dominated by negative people.
There was an article (Oakland Press) about people protesting in where Congressman Peters lives & this produced a lot of comments. This had the effect of offsetting any positive press the Congressman received from the announcement about funding he facilitated for the Transit Center.
Please submit a positive comment to balance the NO people.
