COMMUNITY CONNECTION #1 Since the April newsletter was issued, the Troy Democratic Club Community Affairs Chair Ed Spillers has notified us of these upcoming events
Christmas In Action Saturday April 25, starting at 8 a.m. Our latest Troy Dems Blue Tiger/Community Action project will be the 3rd Annual Christmas in Action project to fix up the homes of disadvantaged Troy seniors.
Some of the volunteer duties for this project include general cleaning, yard work, food runner and parking coordinator, as well as skilled trade work such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, heating, roofing, masonry, dry wall, carpet installation and vinyl flooring installation.
If you are a skilled craftsman, DIYer or amateur, you are needed and welcome but, not required. All are welcome to help us out.
Volunteers need to submit an application form, including a liability waiver, online by going to http://www.ciaoaklandcounty.org/. At this website, you can also find information on their Sponsors. Those who are interested can show up at 1676 Eastport Drive (off of Maple East of Livernois, in Precinct 26) on Saturday April 25th at 8:00 a.m.

We did good, and we had fun Tim Burns Spring Cleanup, Saturday May 9 Hello fellow Troy Dems. Its spring time and time to get out and help our elected officials reach their constituency.
Saturday, May 9, Tim Burns’ Community Cleanup will be at Boulan Park (Crooks between Big Beaver & Wattles) beginning at 10 a.m. After receiving instructions and supplies, volunteers will then pick-up litter from along city streets and public spaces in Clawson and Troy from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There be an appreciation lunch at 1 p.m. Advance Registration required. Volunteers must be able to walk at least one mile without assistance and have the flexibility to bend over to pick up items along the roadway. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Bringing gardening or work gloves is recommended. The event will take place rain or shine. Please RSVP to Ed no later than April 30th at: 248-854-7963 or email RSVP to community@troydemocrats.org, so that he may pass on the names to Tim Burns’ staff.

Blue Tiger Democrats Wounded Veterans Drive in Honor of Memorial Day In observance of Memorial Day, the Troy Democratic Club invites all members of the 9th District Dems and Oakland County Dems to join us in a Blue Tiger community service project to donate personal toiletry items for wounded Veterans in southeast Michigan VA hospitals and clinics. From now through Wednesday, May 20, you may bring donated items to the OCDP headquarters at 30800 Telegraph Road, Suite 1921, Bingham Farms 48025. Or bring them to the Troy Dems’ meeting between 7 and 9 p.m. on May 20 in Room 303 of the Troy Community Center at 3179 Livernois (north of Big Beaver/16 Mile Road, east of I-75).
